First Lessons In Beekeeping
NEOBA hosts a series of beginning beekeeping classes every year during the fall and winter months in order to educate those in our community who would like to become beekeepers. You will learn in-depth knowledge and skills to be successful for your first year of beekeeping and beyond. The classes end with a hive construction day with help from seasoned NEOBA members. The cost is $75.00 for an individual or $95.00 for an individual plus spouse and children. You will receive the book First Lessons in Beekeeping, and initial membership to NEOBA with your paid attendance.
We generally schedule several of two of these four week classes, one in the early fall and another in mid-winter. We recommend that if you don’t have currently have bees, that you do not take the early fall classes because you won’t get your bees until the following May. Wait and take a later class so that not too much time passes between when you complete the classes and when you get your bees. Please check our events page for a current list of scheduled classes and meetings. If you don’t see any classes listed at the moment, please check back later. The best way to keep track of when classes are announced is to like our Facebook page.
